MWISA Webinar: Never Waste a Crisis

Never Waste a Crisis: Learning from a Serious Incident by Craig Bachmann In August 2022, Tree133 experienced a climber fall resulting in a severe injury. For a well-respected company owned by a recognized trainer, this was an unthinkable event that challenged everything we believed about ourselves and our culture. This presentation will share valuable lessons learned from that incident and the resulting state-level OSHA investigation. Attendees will learn practical steps to improve work planning, team communication, PPE inspection, skills development and documentation. By sharing this experience, Tree133 can help other companies build a strong culture of safety and prevent on-the-job incidents.

About the Speaker: Craig Bachmann is the founder and lead arborist of Tree133 LLC, a tree preservation company based in Seattle, WA. He is a Certified Arborist, a Qualified Tree Risk Assessor, a lead evaluator for the Certified Tree Climber program and a head technician for the International Tree Climbing Championship. Craig is also a frequent speaker at ISA Chapter / International conferences and a member of the TCI Magazine Editorial Advisory Board. Craig founded Tree133 in 2017 with the mission of “Preserving Trees. Empowering People.” His team of professional arborists specializes in the care of large trees through risk mitigation pruning, structural support systems, disease management and cultural improvement. They strive to empower tree owners with science-based guidance that considers both the risks and benefits of trees.

In early 2020, Craig’s wife, Joanna Bachmann, joined Tree133 to manage daily operations. Her expertise has been essential to the success of the business. Craig and Joanna enjoy living and working in the North Seattle community.
